The finished bathroom showcases sophisticated designer touches including a custom mosaic accent floor, matching mosaic soap niche, elegant wallpaper accent walls, and white subway tile with creative black accent patterns. Behind the beautiful surfaces lies equally important work: six adjustable steel jack posts now support the previously compromised floor beam, eliminating years of annoying squeaks and restoring structural integrity to this section of the home.
The Challenge
The homeowner engaged an interior designer to create a fresh, contemporary bathroom featuring mixed materials and textures. The design called for mosaic tile accents, patterned subway tile installation, wallpaper feature walls, and updated fixtures throughout. On paper, this was a two-week cosmetic renovation project.
During demolition, however, we discovered a more serious problem. The wooden subfloor exhibited noticeable sagging, particularly pronounced in certain areas of the bathroom. Further investigation revealed that the main support beam beneath the bathroom had settled over time, causing the floor to sink and creating annoying squeaks not only in the bathroom but in adjacent rooms as well.

Structural Jack Post Installation
We installed six Tiger Brand Super S adjustable steel jack posts beneath the compromised beam. These heavy-duty supports can handle loads up to 18,000 pounds each. The screw-type adjustment mechanisms allow precise leveling over several days, preventing stress cracking while gradually lifting the floor back to level.
Designer Mosaic Floor
With the structural foundation secured, we installed the intricate mosaic tile floor that creates a focal point upon entering the bathroom. Mosaic installations require meticulous attention to pattern alignment and grout consistency—all dependent on having a perfectly level, stable substrate.
Custom Mosaic Soap Niche
We constructed a built-in shower niche finished entirely in coordinating mosaic tile, creating functional storage that doubles as a design feature. Proper waterproofing and slope prevent water accumulation while the mosaic provides visual continuity with the floor.
Subway Tile with Black Accents
The shower walls feature white subway tile elevated by black accent inserts creating alternating vertical and horizontal band patterns. This technique adds visual interest and movement, requiring precise layout planning to ensure patterns align at corners and transitions.

All tile installation follows TCNA Handbook guidelines and ANSI A108.1 standards. The jack post installation follows manufacturer specifications for residential floor support applications, with posts positioned to provide adequate load distribution across the supporting beam.
